Details

This watercolor shows a terrified [inner] child gripping a tiny container that has been held firmly shut. She is lovingly held by a calm, mature woman gently lifting open the lid to let some of what was stuck and trembling begin to move and be released. I painted this to both help support me and celebrate as I began to look at and get help with some of the confusing and painful feelings I had been holding for years and years. The nurturing love that appeared in the adult face gives me comfort and encouragement to this day.
