I have always loved how The Fox Theatre shines out in the landscape of downtown Oakland. The architecture is both a natural part of the landscape and grabs my attention with how intricate and unique it is. One day while driving around, I managed to snap a photo that captured what I love so much about this landmark from 1928; the intricate roof and the timeless sign framed by palm trees calmly standing above the hum of daily life. While I was painting the scene, it was fun to discover details that I had never noticed even with all my years of being mesmerized while passing by.
